Certified Human's mission is to facilitate a trust relationship between consumers and the industry, allowing the consumers to see if a product, service or content was created or operated using generative AI technologies.

Certified Human is a registry of products, services and content channels that are vouched to be created and/or operated without the use of generative AI technologies such as Large Language Models (used in ChatGPT), Stable Diffusion (used in Midjourney), etc. In other words, it is a registry of human-created value. Consumers can check this registry to find out more about the products or content they are using, while companies and creators have a way of conciesly communicating their use of generative AI to the consumers. We believe there is a distinction between human-created content, products, services, and even algorithms, and those created by generative AI, and we believe that consumers should know what they are using, or interacting with. That said, we are positive about the potential benefits of using generative AI technologies, sparingly. So far, human inginuity has proven to be a much more powerful creative force than those of generative AIs.
For consumers: Either search for a product or company in the Certified Human registry, or use a special link or a QR code given to you by them to verify their status in the Certified Human registry.
For companies and content creators: Register your product, service, or content channel with the Certified Human registry (we support two kinds of claims and three levels of verification), and announce it to your users. The first level of verification (self-certified) is free!
As a company or a content creator in an industry where it is important that content or information is processed or created by humans, you want to expose this fact to your users / consumers.
We certify two claims regarding the use of generative AI in a product, service or content: one for how it was created, and one for how it is operated.
Generative AI was not used during the creation phase of the product, service, or content. I.e. it was not used to generate text, graphics, or audio that is a part of the product, service, or content
Generative AI is not used during the operation of the product, service, or content. I.e. no content is generated with the help of a generative AI while the product is being used, including chat rooms, support tickets or interactive conversations, or by generating text, graphics, or audio on the fly.
Certification levels indicate the level of attention a certification has received, ranging from self-declared to extensively attested. All certificates have a validity period of 1 year. See the F.A.Q. page for more details.
Companies or individuals self-declare that their product, service or content fits with a claim supported by Certified Human.
This type of certification is free!
In addition to self-declaration, the claim(s) are verified by an expert representative of Certified Human over a video call, who does a technical analysis of the product, the business processes and practices involved, and verifies that it is built according to the claim(s).
Level 2 certification costs $100/year per claim.
The verification step described for Level 2 is enhanced with an in-depth analysis of the businesses engineering and business practices to ensure compliance with the claim. This can be a multi-week process and might include an on-site visit to the engineering department.
Level 3 certification cost varies with the complexity of the product, service or content, and start from $500/year.
